Owls are our friends, they dont harm us in any ways. They help us by keeping a check on the population of rodents. But because of lots and lots of superstitions related with owls they have become the symbols of ill and omen and so they have faced a great trouble by the witch doctors and black magic practioners. They are sacrificed for such unscientific reasons and their population is declining rapidly because of this.
By law catching any owl species is a crime and there are severe punishments for that. Please protect these magnificent birds.

"SAVE THE OWLS"

The white rumped vulture becomes adult at the age of three years. It's breeding season is october to march. During this time the pairs build their nests on top of high trees like banyan, tamarind etc. The nest is like a large untidy plateform of sticks. In this the female lays a single egg, which is white in color and often speckled and spotted by reddish brown color. The egg is incubated by both the parents for about 42-52 days. The chick comes out after this period and it is fed by both the parents. After about 90 days the chick becomes fully grown and is ready to fly. The juvenile white rumped vultures lack the whit collar around neck and the color of their face skin is also different from adults. They become adult after 3 years. The same nest is used for years by the same pair.
